CINDERFORD gym owner Kelly Bluett is celebrating after being named Miss England at the International Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (IBFA) competition in September, qualifying for the British finals in June next year.

Kelly, who co-owns Ironmasters gym, also works for a charity that supports families of children with chromosome disorders Trisomy 13 and 18, and has three young sons.

She said: “I star-

ted bodybuilding using weights when I was 17, but caught the bug after going to competitions with my husband. I liked the idea that you could change your bodyshape with weights.

“This is only my second competition – my first was in 2011 when my eldest son was only 10 months old. I came sixth out of six, but I’d done it.

“A couple of years ago, I decided I wanted to get on stage again and I chose IBFA as it’s a real grass roots body building association.

“I won the trained figure class by default as the only entrant, which was disappointing as I’d had 22 weeks of competition preparation dieting and training. It would have been nice to share the stage with other people who had gone through the same thing.

“I went on to compete against all the winners from the other categories though and to win the ladies overall title for the Miss England trophy made it all worthwhile.

“I’m already in training for the British competition in June next year. I’m trying to put on muscle size and work on the weaker areas identified by the judges.

“After that, I’ll be on a strict diet ahead of the competition, of porridge oats, egg whites, lean white meat, steak, fish, rice and vegetables.”
