A PARK run organiser is set to complete a charity challenge of running 12 half marathons inside a year this weekend, and wants other runners to join him on his final trek.

David Price, who helps run the weekly Lydney parkrun, has raised £800 so far for the British Heart Foundation after completing 11 13.1-mile races.

And on Saturday (November 4) he aims to complete the round dozen by completing the Forest of Dean parkrun course, then running from Berry Hill down through the woods, to arrive at the Lydney parkrun in time for its 9am start, a longer distance of around 15 miles

David, who started running in 2014 and launched the Lydney parkrun last year, said: “So far, I have raised over £800, which will go direct to the BHF to help them in their fight against heart disease, and the development of life saving treatment.

“My runs have taken me from Farnborough at -7C in January, through Bournemouth, Portsmouth, Gloucester, Newport, Stratford-upon-

Avon, Market Harborough, the Forest of Dean autumn, Severn Bridge, Birmingham and Black Country and Stroud.

“My first finish time was 2hr 9mins, and last weekend at Stroud, I finished in 1hr 52mins.”

He added: “I have enjoyed this year, visiting different places and taking part in all these different events, meeting some great people on the way.

“It’s been great to have people ask me how I’m getting on and supporting me all the way, and it’s hard to believe that the year is now almost over.

“But then that does mean I can start planning for next year’s big challenge – watch this space.

“If anybody would like to join me on November 4, then they are more than welcome.

“You can come to Forest of Dean parkun for a 7am start, or Lydney parkrun for 9am, and run either or both parkruns, or the whole route down to Lydney.
