A NOVICE boxer is taking part in a 12 card fight on Sunday (March 24) to raise funds for Cancer Research, despite only having had two fights before.
Andrew Mills, aged 21, is a member of Cinderford Amateur Boxing Club (ABC), and is a newcomer to the sport.
The event is organised by Ultra White Collar Boxing, and takes place at Hatherley Manor Hotel near Gloucester.
Andrew is hoping to gain experience from the event, even though he is likely to be pitted against an experienced fighter,
“The only way to do that is to get regular fights,” Andrew said.
“I am really looking forward to this. When I saw it advertised, I thought I would like to be involved, given it’s for an excellent cause, and I would also gain more experience.
“It’s been hard work going to Gloucester twice a week for training, and then the gym in between times, but I hope to put on a good showing.
“Boxing is something I’ve always enjoyed watching, so when the opportunity arose to join Cinderford ABC, I thought if I don’t do it now, I may regret it.”
