TWO Forest junior rugby clubs appeared in front of 82,000 supporters at Twickenham on Saturday.
As Saracens and Northampton Saints battled it out for Aviva Premiership glory in Saturday's final, at half-time Cinderford under 12s took centre stage and took part in the Land Rover Cup Parade of Champions.
Their time to shine was reward for winning a Land Rover Cup festival held by Gloucester back in April, and Shane Ranford believes his team loved every minute of their experience of a lifetime.
"We were very lucky that this was our second time around but for a lot of people they will never get the chance to walk out at Twickenham," Ranford said.
"Yet again it's been an incredible experience for the boys and it's something they will hold on to for the rest of their careers. The boys were counting down the days last week and as we were getting closer to the ground the excitement levels on the bus were going through the roof.
"I'm sure many of them dream about turning professional and hopefully they will get the chance to walk out here again in the future."
Not only did Cinderford under 12s get to walk on the hallowed Twickenham turf but they also got to meet and hear from former World Cup winner and England captain Lewis Moody.
They were joined by Lydney under 11s, who were making their Aviva Premiership Final debut, and head coach Gareth Williams believes his side will be forever reliving the experience.
"I think the Land Rover Cup is an absolutely brilliant idea, it was really good for the community and everyone in Lydney took to it really well and it was fantastic to win in our area," Williams said.
"We brought a 70 seater coach to Twickenham and I'm sure the kids will want to come back year after year given what they've experienced.
"If you don't get inspired by walking out in front of 82,000 people in the premiership final you won't get inspired by anything. Just talking about it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and I hope all the kids have taken it all in."
Land Rover supports grassroots rugby and provides the opportunity for 7,000 youngsters to take part in the Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup.
