LYDNEY rugby club captain Matt Taylor has earmarked next Tuesday as the launch day of the club for the coming season.

Taylor hopes to introduce a new coach to the players and unveil sponsorship from Premier Nutrition, a sport supplement company. He says he is looking forward to meeting new players as well as working hard to create a club environment for everyone to enjoy.

The meeting will be followed by a training session under the eye of new strength and conditioning coach Jack Royal.

Says Taylor: "Jack will play a huge part in creating a professional environment at the club by preparing all the players physically for the season ahead. To help him do this we now have gym facilities and plenty of new equipment to aid the fitness sessions."

He added: "The new sponsors will help the players prepare for and recover from games and training sessions. We are now looking forward to an exciting start with a new coach and physiotherapists coming in very soon."

Taylor says the club is seeking new players with a professional and ambitious approach to rugby.

"We are considering players in all positions and this season our aim is to bring a more professional approach and create an environment for players to enjoy their rugby," he said.

Taylor says "team days" have been arranged for August 4 and 11at which team building activities and training will take place.

He said: "There is still plenty of work to be done and we still need new players to come to the club but things are moving in the right direction and there is a positive buzz around the club."
