CINDERFORD Stags recorded a comfortable 28-5 Forest Combination Cup win against Ross but had to come from behind.

It was Ross who took a 5-0 lead when No 8 Thai Hayward crossed the whitewash under the Friday night floodlights at the Beavis Memorial Ground.

The early reversal stung the home side into action and they were soon on the front foot with well-functioning set-pieces and plenty of possession.

Lewis Handley, Josh Warren, Tom Reynolds and Danny Parry scored tries, with Handley also kicking a conversion and two penalties to take his personal tally for the evening to 13 points.

The Ross side, which included a number of young players who have come up through the ranks, never gave up but the Stags put their experience to good use.

The winner of this match was guaranteed a bye into the final which is due to take place on May 6.
