DRYBROOK Ladies ran in six tries – including two each for Ellie Underwood and Emma Gibson – as they whitewashed Weston Hornettes.

It was emblematic of the visitors’ woes that they did not threaten the Drybrook line until the final moments – only to be turned over and Gibson sent on her way for a 60-metre try for the score of the game.

The Foresters started strongly and centre Ellie Underwood broke away to score under the posts to open the scoring after 15 minutes.

She followed it up with the conversion, the first of four in Sunday afternoon’s game.

The try galvanised the visitors who saw more possession during the first half but offered very little threat to the Drybrook line.

Both sides played open rugby despite the heavy conditions underfoot and a gathering mist as the game drew on.

After an initial flurry by the visitors at the beginning of the second half, Drybrook re-established their dominance.

Further tries followed from skipper Cat Brain and Molly Teague contributed to a successful opening to 2016 for the Foresters.
