THE FIRST Devauden 10K posed a real challenge for more than 200 rain-lashed runners and a local athlete was first home.
Chepstow Harrier Peter Ward of Llanishen posted a time of 38 minutes 47 seconds for the off-road course.
He finished a full minute ahead of Richard Kemp who was second and they were only two of 237 runners to dip below 40 minutes for the course around Chepstow Park Wood.
The first woman home was Chloe Fenton in 44 minutes 52 seconds making her 12th overall. The second woman was veteran Nicola Gething.
St Arvans can boast the first man and woman home with Caroline Bollom joining Richard Kemp.
Ellie Spence and Daphne Winfield of Itton were second and third while Will Leney of Devauden was second and H Austin of Itton third.
