MATHERN Wanderers manager Gareth Moore has hailed Saturday's six-a-side tournament a great success after Underwood's B team lifted the trophy and cash prize.
"The whole event went very smoothly and I was especially pleased our Under 18s players did well," he said.
"The whole idea was to get people involved and they all reacted really well, helping to make the tournament a success and helping us to raise funds which will virtually pay for the ground rent for our matches in the coming season."
The tournament attracted teams from around the area and the sideshows, barbecue, bouncy castle and face-painting turned it into a family day.
"We need to pay to hire the pitch for our East Gwent Senior League matches and I am pretty sure we have almost covered the whole season from this one event, which is great news," Moore added.
"It was also another chance to see the talent we have here in action and it was very encouraging."
