TWO goals from experienced Bridget Worth were not enough to prevent Lydney Thirds falling to their defeat of the season.

The Forest side are currently fourth in the Berkeley Division Three after a strong start to the season with two wins, a draw and two defeats.

The thirds, under the captaincy of Rosie Redwood, are a mix of experienced players – several of whom have returned to the games – and youngsters who have come through the club’s Vixens section.

Enjoying the game is key for the thirds although success on the pitch is a welcome bonus, said manager Glenn Redwood.

The team trains at the Freedom Leisure Centre at 6.45pm on Wednesdays and new players are welcome.

The ladies’ first team travelled to Newent for a Forest derby and came away 1-2 winners.

The result moved Lydney to sixth in Premier Division One while Newent are joint ninth.
