LYDNEY Tennis Club is holding a free open day on Sunday, March 5, to launch its 2017 season.
Club spokesperson, Julia Goss, said: “We provide racquets so you just need suitable trainers and a spare hour. Our coach Rachael will be on hand to organise, encourage and help get you started.
“If you want to be fitter, it’s very important to find an activity you like and have some chance of sticking at. Tennis is a sport you can play and enjoy at any level. Social tennis is definitely the mainstay of our club, as it’s hugely popular and lots of fun.
“We have a growing and lively membership, a full programme of tournaments and events, three ladies’ teams, three men’s teams and seven junior teams. We play all year round and the super-keen even take part in the county winter league.
“Don’t worry if it’s cold outside because we have a warm clubhouse to revive you with hot drinks and refreshments. These events are very popular so please book a free session.”
Mini tennis for children aged from five to seven years runs from 1pm to 2pm on the day, and for eight to 11-year olds from 2pm to 3pm. Junior sessions for 12 to 16-year-olds and adult sessions run from 3pm to 4pm. Visit www.lydneytennisclub.net for more details and to book a place.
