CHEERED on by a crowd of 600, Lydney turned on the style to put the Wanderers to the sword at Regentsholme on Saturday. But the eight try demolition of the Worcester side came with a warning from team manager Colin Henderson that this weekend's game against Gloucester outfit Centralians is certain to be much tougher.

Henderson reckoned Wanderers arrived resigned to being on the receiving end of a hiding.

"Centralians will be a different proposition. Local rivalry can often be a leveller so we will need to be on our guard, try and control possession and cut out errors," he said.

He thought Lydney's performance against Wanderers one of the best of the season.

"It's much too early to be talking about promotion. We've only lost one game but the second half of the season is tougher. We do not have the strength in depth of some other clubs so we will want to avoid injuries, but that is out of our control."

As an eight, Lydney's forwards were in great form.

"The set pieces were excellent and the back-row dominated in the loose. It would be hard to pick anyone out as they played really well as a unit but I thought Dave Bennett and Charlie Daniell were both superb," said Henderson.

The ring master was once again scrum-half Sam Arnott who was busy and constructive. His excellent service enabled Holder and Scourfield to control the midfield and create opportunities for the strong running Tai Lacabuka.

Henderson said: "It was Tai's best game for Lydney. He ran powerfully and with great determination and deserved his hat-trick. Supporters will be hoping for a repeat of that form this Saturday."

Lydney's tries were scored by Lacabuka (3), Dave Bennett, Dewi Scourfield, Tony Wicks, Jack O'Connell and Charlie Daniell. Wicks kicked five conversions and two penalty goals.

Saturday's match against Centralians is at Regentsholme, kick-off 3pm.
