A PROMISING young rider has qualified for the Schools Equestrian Games Eventing Championships.

Twelve-year-old Bibi Zijlmans, who lives in Mitcheldean, topped the 80cms individual class at the Schools Equestrian Games at Elmwood in Oxfordshire.

She was a key part of the Monmouth School for Girls’ team which also enjoyed success, winning the team event.

Bibi was joined in the team by 13 year old Evie Lawson and 12 year old Lucinda Chinn, who both live near Ross-on-Wye, and 11 year old Jessica Broome.

The School Equestrian Games Eventing Championships is a series of one-day events around the country, which includes dressage, show jumping and cross country.

It gives children the opportunity to compete for their schools and Bibi is now looking forward to the national finals at Broadway, Worcestershire, in October.
