MORE than 250 adults, children and dogs joined the BBC TV One Show's, Mike Dilger in the Forest to take part in Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust's 'Walk 4 Wildlife'.

The walk launched a brand new circular route created by the Trust to help people experience wildlife and wild places in the Forest.

TV presenter and wildlife fanatic Mike said: "Walk4Wildlife in the Forest of Dean was fantastic! This woodland walk is great for seeing and hearing birds such as crossbill and redpoll, and I spotted my first tree pipit of the year.

"I was so pleased to see such a huge number of people supporting Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, and people of all ages too. To top it all off, the weather was perfect."

Afterwards all enjoyed a barbecue and listened to the Forest of Dean Brass band.

Jan Ryder, the Trust's community fundraising officer said: "We were really pleased to have so many people join us to raise money for the Trust. The weather was glorious, and everyone had a fantastic time discovering this beautiful area. We have raised £2,000 so far, but hope to double this. We're making a plea for all walkers to send in their sponsorship so we can raise over £4,000 dfor the Trust."
