AT LEAST 300 workers at the Xerox Mitcheldean plant face losing their jobs this year, with 90 to go now, the company announced in a statement on Tuesday afternoon.
The Forest's major employer, which says it must make $200 million savings this year, is also cutting 110 jobs at Venray (Holland) and 30 at Dundalk, Ireland.
"It is hoped that these reductions at the Venray and Mitcheldean sites will be achieved by a combination of attrition, the release of temporary contract staff and some voluntary redundancy," the firm states.
And it adds that proposals to outsource some products are still under discussion and "could result in a further 320 possible job losses later in the year (240 in Mitcheldean, 80 in Venray)".
