Between them the three benefice churches raised £5,000 in December – a total described as a welcome boost to the £120,000 needed annually to run the churches. All the money has to be raised locally.
The vicars, Nick Bromfield, Fred Long and John Cammell, said they were blessed with many individuals and families who contributed so much to making the churches welcoming, warm and inviting places where everyone felt at home.
In all three churches there was evidence of substantial growth.
The Christingle services at Ruardean and the Forest Church, Drybrook, between them attracted 490 people – a total descirbed as "amazing". At the same time the annual Christmas Tree Festival at Lydbrook was judged "the best yet" while the annual community carol service supported by Lydbrook Training Band was "full to bursting".
The Forest Church's Nativity service was also attended by nearly 100 parents and grandparents.
In each of the churches the candlelight carol services were also well attended while the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day attendances at Drybrook totalled 475 – 19 per cent up on last year.
