MORE than 100 students from Wyedean School in Sedbury descended on the centre of Chepstow dressed as Santa.
The "flashmob" of sixth-formers was looking to raise money for homelessness charity Shelter Cymru.
A flashmob is a group that suddenly appears in public to sing, dance or entertain passers-by.
The Santas started appearing around the town before breaking out into a song and dance routine at 9.30am.
They also performed in the centre of Cardiff where they were captured on film for TV news.
As part of Wyedean's flexible learning day students camped out overnight in sub-zero temperatures to raise money for homelessness charity Llamau.
Head of Year 12 Rhys Thomas said the flashmob was a good way to raise awareness and videos can be found on Facebook and YouTube.
He said: "We want students to develop empathy for people who are homeless – most often not of their own choice."
