THE fourth annual vintage vehicle show, held at the Speech House near Coleford on Sunday, was the “best yet”, say organisers.
The show is hosted by the Forest Vintage Vehicle and Machinery Club and raises money for charities in the Dean which this year will be the Dilke and Lydney hospitals, Great Oaks Hospice, and Forest Pulse which provides activities for children with disabilities.
Secretary Sharon Vickers said: “Numbers were up on last year and it was our best show yet – people came from far and wide and it was truly a family event.
“The show organisers should be very proud of their achievements as they voluntarily put in hours and hours of hard work to make this the success that it is.”
The show included several hundred examples of steam, petrol and diesel horsepower from small static engines to huge traction engines.
Among the many displays was one showing the history of Lydney-based Watts Group, put together by Alan Willetts of Yorkley, which included a 100-year-old truck.
There was also the oldest military Landrover in the world which took six hours to reach the Forest, travelling A and B roads from Surrey.
In the main ring there was a display of falconry, the Digraph racing truck and the Adams Axemen.
There was also a fun dog show organised by the Lydney-based Forest Oaks dog training club.
