I WOULD like to make it known to your readers that I am currently chairing a small group of County Councillors who are looking at the important issue of affordable housing in Monmouthshire.  When we have completed the work our views and recommendations will be considered by the county council and, I trust, will lead to making improvements in the provision of and access to affordable housing in the county.

In the course of our work we think it is vitally important that we hear the views of people who have experience of applying for and/or living in affordable housing.  We know there is not yet enough affordable housing and are working to address that problem. Most importantly we want to hear about any constructive suggestions you may have for making improvements based on your experience of the system.

If you'd like to tell us your views: contact me at – County Councillor Simon Howarth, Monmouthshire County Council, County Hall, Cwmbran, NP44 2XH or [email protected]">[email protected], or telephone Hazel Ilett, Scrutiny Co-ordinator Officer on 01633 644233. You can also give us feedback on our website http://www.monmouth">www.monmouth

We can attend a meeting in your area, which will be led by a County Councillor, and discuss the problems and issues people are experiencing in getting access to affordable housing. – Simon G M Howarth, local member, Llanelly Hill.
