Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC) is calling for volunteers to help them raise awareness and funds for their life-saving work over the summer months.

The charity provides the critical care and air ambulance for the Forest and is in desperate need of volunteers.

From January to May, its Critical Care Team attended 44 jobs in the Forest, and 792 across the region they cover, providing emergency treatment to the critically ill and injured.

But GWAAC receives no day-to-day government funding and relies on the support of its local community to raise the £3m a year to keep them flying.

As a GWAAC volunteer, you will be a valued member of the ‘Ground Crew’ – helping out at fun summer events, talking to community groups, arranging bucket collections, and even dressing up as the charity mascot; Charlie the Critical Care Bear.

Volunteer coordinator, Claire Harmer, said: “We rely on our volunteers to help us keep flying and providing this vital service within our local community.”
