THE standard bearer of the Lydney branch of the Royal British Legion will join others at the Royal Albert Hall in London for one of the most important events of Remembrance weekend.

David Rudge will represent the branch at the annual Festival of Remembrance which takes place on Saturday, November 11 in the presence of the Royal Family.

David, who works at Tesco in Lydney, said: “It’s a great honour to be selected.”

Lydney was last represented at the festival in 2008 when David’s father Mel carried the standard.

The Melville Watts Poppy shop in Newerne Street will be officially opened on Saturday morning (October 28) by Forest MP Mark Harper.
