STAFF from the Midcounties Co-op in the Forest pitted themselves against their peers from fellow stores to compete in a rounders tournament for charity.

The inter-store tournament saw teams from Co-op stores across the region play each other and raise £500.

Almost £170 each will be shared between charities in Stroud, Cheltenham and the Forest of Dean Children’s Opportunity Centre.

Chris Chandler, leadership team ambassador at The Midcounties Co-operative in Forest of Dean, said: “As well as enjoying a day of exciting action, we’re really pleased to have raised £500 to be split between The Forest of Dean Children’s Opportunity Centre, as well as our partner charities in Stroud and Cheltenham, enabling them to continue the excellent work they do for communities in all three regions.”

Marilyn Smith, centre manager at the Forest of Dean Children’s Opportunity Centre in Coleford, added: “We’re pleased to have been selected as The Midcounties Co-operative’s charity partner this year, and we’ll be using the money raised to maintain our core services, as we look to support the families of disabled children throughout our region.”
