DRIVING home on Monday, July 18 I came across yet another accident on Driffield Road. As it happens Driffield Road is known locally as Driffield Lane, which is really all that it is.
This lane is very narrow, hardly coping with the volume of traffic at the moment. Regarding the new development this lane could not possibly cope with any more traffic. I'm sure that if hundreds more cars were going up and down there would be fatalities.
Also Allaston Road and Court Road couldn't cope with any extra traffic either, which is the opinion of all the people who reside in the area. This development would be completely inappropriate for this area, destroying the bio-diversity in the area – as mentioned in last week's Review.
Everyone I've spoken to in Allaston Road, Driffield Road, Windsor Drive, Court Road and School Crescent say that they are against this development. Why upset hundreds of residents, spoil the area for eternity and cause immense danger on the small roads mentioned just to please a few people hoping to make a fast buck?
