WHEN five-year-old Ava Mae Darcy saw a picture in the Review of a little girl having her hair cut for charity, she wanted to do the same.
So with a little help from the Kutz hair salon in Bulwark, the Tutshill Church of England School pupil made her own donation.
She was inspired by the pictures in the Review of Aimee Aston, who had her hair cut to donate to the Princess Trust which makes wigs for children who have lost their hair, and by her favourite pop star, Jessie J, who had her head shaved for Comic Relief.
Ava Mae's mum, Althar, said: "She is a very caring little girl and when she saw the pictures in the Review she wanted to do something to help too.
"When we came into Kutz for the cut there was Jessie J on the radio which Ava Mae loved."
As well as her mum, Ava Mae, of Garden City, Chepstow also had support from grandmother Aly Bowden, uncle Kyle Bowden and her little sister Mia Rose, aged three.
The cut was performed by stylist Emma Pring and they were able to send a 14-inch pony tail to the charity as well as money raised through fund-raising.
