ON Thursday morning, during the rush-hour, Fairfield Mabey sent a massive girder through Chepstow disrupting traffic for a considerable time.

When I asked why move such a large load at that time, I was told: "The police insist on that time".

I don't believe it. The police could not be so idiotic as to cause such confusion.

I have heard that at one time these loads used to be transported at about 4am which is more sensible. Let's hope they get back to that time.
