AS I recycle everything I possibly can, I was delighted to see that I can now recycle my old, household batteries.

Making sure I adhered to the rules, I found my instruction leaflet only to find that my six AAA batteries – the smallest you can buy – had to be put out in a standard-sized supermarket carrier bag.

Why not a smaller, more ecologically-sized bag? What a waste.
