LYDNEY Bowling Club is celebrating its 90th anniversary with a major refurbishment to its pavilion in Bathurst Park.
The refurbished pavilion will be officially opened at 11am on Saturday, May 14 by Maggie Powell who is a representative of the Gloucestershire Environmental Trust. Following the ceremony the club will be holding an open day where all will be welcomed and given the opportunity to try their hand at bowling.
Club chairman, Mike Tinson said: “The refurbishment has brought the clubhouse up-to-date with everything being redecorated and re-carpeted. The clubhouse now provides modern facilities for new and existing members plus those who might be less mobile.
“It will be great to welcome as many new faces as possible at our open day on May 14. Equipment will be provided and existing members will be on hand to offer encouragement.”
Significant funding of £28,500 from The Gloucestershire Environmental Trust from funds generated by the Landfill Communities Fund has seen the club benefit from an outdoor disabled access ramp, new kitchen, a new changing room, and toilet facilities.
