I AM in total agreement with your reader's letters (August 21 2009) in the Review headed 'Flexibility and choice.'

I must admit I have had the same concerns for a long time. I have written on numerous occasions to my local MP and also to the Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, with my concerns on how companies buisness, and banks alike, are dictating to the media on what method of payment they would have us use. They insist that it would be better if you opened up a bank account, so as to pay via direct debit etc.

BT is a prime example of this tactic. If you don't, they will 'fine' you a £4.50 processing fee if you pay by cash.

I suggested to Gordon Brown that this needs checking. The problem today is that people have been brain-washed and don't realise how entrapped they will become.

Plastic is a false economy because you buy even if you don't have the money and people start getting into debt.

Years ago if you couldn't pay for goods you didn't have them. But you saved till you could, and then appreciated what you had purchased. Simple as that.

We have become a controlled chip and pin society, with the chipping of people next!

Debt is a weapon used to conquer and enslave societies, and that is exactly what is happening. – S. Jackson, Stockwell Lane, Aylburton.
