THE BREXIT Party topped the European Parliament election polls on both sides of the Wye.
In the Forest, the anti-EU party that was formed less than two months ago, gained 10,553 votes while in Monmouthshire the figure was 9,978.
That put the party headed by Nigel Farage 6,064 votes ahead of the second-placed Greens in the Forest and 3,795 in front of the Liberal Democrats in Monmouthshire.
The Forest is part of the South West and Gibraltar region which returned three Brexit Party MEPs, two Liberal Democrats and one Green.
Monmouthshire is in the Wales region which now has two Brexit MEPs, one from Labour and one from Plaid Cymru.
The turnout was 37.94 per cent in the Forest and 43.57 per cent in Monmouthshire.
In the Forest the full results were: Brexit Party 10,553, Greens 4,489, Liberal Democrats 4,255, Conservatives 2,309, Labour 1,833, UKIP 900, Change UK 684, English Democrats 138. Independents Larch Maxey, Mothiur Rahman and Neville Seed had 48, 10 and 56 votes respectively.
The full results from Monmouthshire were: Brexit Party 9,978, Liberal Democrats 6,183, Conservatives 3,431, Plaid Cymru 3,264, Labour 2,595, Greens 2,808, Change UK 1,140 and UKIP 802.
