For a nation that created the ‘Mother of Parliaments’ and built an empire across the globe, the Brexit shambles is beyond belief.
Theresa May’s meddling over two years and her half-in, half-out deal that Parliament rejected three times started the rot.
Parliament’s attempts to thwart the public’s choice made in the 2016 referendum did the rest.
Boris Johnson has been called a liar and more for trying his best to find a way forward.
Parliament passed a law stopping a no-deal Brexit.
In reality, the Benn Act, more appropriately the ‘Surrender Bill’, has tied government’s hands and encouraged the EU to reject any proposals presented to it.
Britain has been made the laughing stock of the world.
A fifth column of MPs and others are also actively pursuing court actions against a democratically elected government trying to implement a decision made by a majority of the population in the referendum.
The useless lot of MPs ever-ready to reject anything put forward, but reluctant to come up with anything constructive or agreeing to a General Election to resolve the problem, reminds one of Alice’s Through the Looking Glass and ‘jam tomorrow and jam yesterday – but never jam today.’
People are getting fed up of the on-going Parliamentary charade.
MPs should grow up and allow the British public to pass judgement in a General Election as soon as possibile.
We cannot allow the damaging delay and uncertainty to continue. – Venk Shenoi, Blaisdon.
