A FAULT on an underground cable was to blame for the power cut in Lydney last Wednesday afternoon.
At least three businesses were affected around the Hill Street area – with two requiring generators to keep them open.
An affected business owner, who did not wish to be named, told the Review: “I ended up sending my three members of staff home as we rely on computers to do our work. The power was off from 3pm until 4am the following morning.”
There were concerns that workmen carrying out work around the affected cable could have unwittingly damaged it.
Western Power Distribution said its area manager was not aware of any damage to its cables by any third party workmen.
Engineers continued carrying out repairs on Thursday.
