A MAN was arrested after firefighters called to a house blaze found cannabis plants in the roof of the building.

Fire broke out in the house in Belle Vue Road, Cinderford, at around 10.10pm last night (Tuesday, June 19).

The blaze was put out and no-one was injured, but Gloucestershire Police said six cannabis plants were later recovered in the roof cavity.

A force spokesman said: “A 56-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of cultivation and possession of a class B drug and remains in custody at this time.”

Neighbours said they thought the house involved was unoccupied at the time, and was being renovated.
