REDBROOK Village Trust members are celebrating after scoring a win at the prestigious Biffaward environmental awards.

The Trust was named as winner of the 'Recreation' category for inspirational work in transforming a contaminated area into an attractive playground.

Competing against community projects from across the country, Redbrook Village Trust received £2,000 in prize money which can be used to improve the project further or on other community initiatives.

Run by the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts, the Biffaward Awards are held annually to celebrate the success of community projects that have received funding from the Biffaward programme during the previous year.

Redbrook was recognised for determination and passion to create an attractive playground that would benefit children from a number of communities.

Originally receiving just under £10,000 from Biffaward, the group worked tirelessly across a number of years to seal the land of an old car park which was contaminated by ash from metal works.
