THE ANNUAL fete organised by the four Roman Catholic churches in the Forest raised almost £2,200.
The fete, which was at held at St Joseph’s Church in Lydney, is the Catholic parish’s biggest fund-raiser of the year.
The event was officially opened by Forest MP Mark Harper and is supported by all four Roman Catholic churches in the Forest – Our Lady of Victories in Cinderford, St Margarets Mary’s in Coleford and Sacred Heart in Sedbury as well as St Joseph’s.
It included a wide range of stalls and music from Parkend Silver Band and other local musicians.
Helen Molyneux, who is a member of the organising committee, said: “It was a very good day and we raised almost £2,200.
“The fete is our main fund-raising event of the year and half will go to the churches and half to local charities.
“We are grateful to Mark Harper for opening the fete and to everyone who supported it and made donations.
“There was also some wonderful music.”
Again this year the top prizes in the raffle – £100 and £50 cash – were donated by an anonymous well-wisher.
