FRIENDS, relatives, and staff and fellow residents of Chaxhill Hall all joined in the party as Enid Miles celebrated her 100th birthday.

Enid, who has been at Chaxhill for four years, formerly lived in Ruspidge, where she was born, going to St White's and later Monmouth schools.

She had a busy civil service career in London before returning to the Forest.

"We had a lovely day – there were lots of relatives and friends to help Enid celebrate and she enjoyed a glass of champagne," said Eve Smith, who works at the retirement home.
