THE tragic death of Leanne Paige Davies, age 19, who died following a car crash by the War Memorial in Longhope at the end of May this year, has prompted her family and friends to set up a charity in her memory.

Leanne, who lived in Worrall Hill, Lydbrook, had recently finished her first year as an apprentice hairdresser at The Beauty Spot hairdressing salon in Coleford at the time of the crash.

Named 'Leanne's Gift', the charity is aiming to give financial aid to families who lose a young person in a road traffic collision.

The organisers have also sent out special thanks to the many people who have helped with fund-raising and donations, including Fran Jacobs who was brave enough to make a skydive, and Wayne Powell who had the stamina to run four Half Marathons in four weeks.

They have also paid tribute to Boogie Nights who created a show in Leanne's memory.

A new website for the charity is currently being created, with links to a JustGiving webpage for direct donations.

The charity, in this early stage, is also looking for help – and are keen to find a venue where they can hold a charity ball. Anyone who thinks they would like to help, or who can suggest or offer a suitable venue, is urged to get in contact as soon as possible.
