SIGNS advertising the free Chepstow Community Fireworks event on Saturday have mysteriously disappeared from the roadsides in the town.

Three signs costing around £300 have vanished in the run up to the annual event.

The signs, which adorn the roadsides on the A48 and A466 on the outskirts of Chepstow, went missing in action last month and despite enquiries being made the culprit has not come forward.

Round Table members, who run the event at the Comprehensive School every year, are mystified and are worried that it may affect their fundraising efforts.

A Round Table spokesman said: “We have absolutely no idea who has

removed the signs. Last year the fireworks raised over £3,000 for local good causes. It is our biggest fundraiser of the year so we want as many people as possible to turn up to make the evening go with a bang."

The colourful signs are a key part of efforts to inform local people

about the event as well as leaflet drops, press articles and social

media.

The spokesman added: “We just want our signs back and for as many

people as possible to turn up on Saturday. We don’t want to have to

fork out for new signs.”

Entry to the event is free, although donations would be very welcome.

Doors open at 4.30pm. There will be live entertainment, food and stalls where you can treat the kids to flashing toys.
