The answer to the problems of Lydbrook Parish Church (pursued by HM Customs and Revenues for a mere £18,446) is for an MP to make it a second home. The scope for improvements would then be simply enormous. The defence offered by those MPs guilty of flagrant abuse of public funds, namely,  that their squalid behaviour is within the rules, shows that they are unfit for public office. Clearly, the rules (or at least the application of the rules) are not within the rules. The sooner such MPs retire from public life the better. They are simply too stupid to govern us. – Gerald Morgan, Dublin.
