THE reproduced POW correspondence in the Review of April 30 was interesting. Ogfr Werner Pix was most unlikely to have been an Obergrűppenfuhrer, which was the SS equivalent of General. This rank would have been Obergefreiter and he would have served in the regular German army. The equivalent in our army was corporal. He may have served in the Luftwaffe, but certainly not in the SS, which had no such rank.
I was sorry to read that Mr Skett of Bream is boycotting pubs and clubs; the publicans were not responsible for the smoking ban and he is punishing the innocent, who are currently finding it difficult enough to make a living.
