IN reply to Bruce Hogan's previous letter please may I supply him with some additional information before writing his next work of fiction?
•The county council meeting on November 26 started at 10.00am and all UKIP councillors were present while the Labour group was not all there.
•UKIP county councillors did not leave the meeting at midday.
•In general at full council meetings two hours are put aside for motions which means that they are usually finished well before 1pm.
•On November 26 the meeting was, in my opinion, hijacked by councillors desperate to get a sound bite in an attempt to gain publicity.
•The behaviour of various councillors of the Lib/Lab/Con was so self-serving that a Labour councillor even withdrew a motion in frustration.
•Throughout the meeting at least 10 well-paid employees of the council have to sit and listen to nothing more than political posturing from some of the Lib/Lab/Con councillors.
•In the two weeks leading up to the meeting, as part of the scrutiny committee I attended five meetings with regard to the budget for next year, as well as attending an informative briefing from the chief finance officer.
There are nine councillors (one UKIP) on this committee and I believe only the chairman and myself attended all meetings.
For the avoidance of doubt the chairman receives additional allowances (salary) in this role and I did not receive any additional funding.
•In the year ended March 31 the only expenses I claimed were for mileage at a rate agreed by HMRC and the AA as doing no more than cover the cost of running a vehicle per mile.
Finally I have attended parish council meetings recently in my division at which district councillor Andrew Gardiner has suggested that his current suspension from committees was brought about as a result of a Labour councillor perhaps not being entirely truthful.
Although not present at the incident, in view of Labour's performance locally and nationally I am inclined to think that Andrew may have a point.
Cllr Colin Guyton (UKIP), Gloucestershire County Council, Lyd
