JOAN and Patrick Cleary from Ross-on-Wye are celebrating today after scooping a top of the range Vauxhall Coupe worth over £15,000 on a National Lottery scratchcard, Cars & Cash.

The couple are certainly on a winning streak as Joan bought the scratchard at Ross-on-Wye Post Office in the Maltings after she went in to claim an £80 win after matching four numbers in a Lotto draw.

Joan, 71, said: "I had gone in to pick up my Lotto winnings when I decided to buy a scratchcard. I sat down outside the shop and scratched the panels off; I looked at the card and could not believe my eyes.

"I went back into the shop and said 'I think I've won a car', they checked it for me and confirmed it was true."

Patrick and Joan have already started making plans to travel. Patrick, 69, said: "We have some friends who live in Scotland so one of our first journey's will be to visit them and show off our new car!"

Ross-on-Wye Vauxhall dealer Baylis Haines Strange has provided the couple's Astra.

Patrick said: "I currently drive a Ford Scorpio but I can hardly wait to trade it in for our brand new Astra."

Patrick plays five lines on the Lotto draw every Wednesday and Saturday as well as scratchcards and will continue to do so.

Cars & Cash gives players the chance to win cash prizes between £1 and £2,500. There were 200 top prizes of a top of the range Vauxhall Astra Coupe 1.8i worth over £15,000 at launch.
