IN all urban areas of Monmouthshire, dog waste bins have been installed by town councils or community councils, the objective being to keep the pavements and grass verges clear of dog faeces which are obviously unsightly, foul smelling and a health hazard.
These bins are only meant to be used, along with the free bags provided by Monmouthshire county council, by dog owners to pick up dog waste from pavements or verges. They are not intended for dog owners to deposit all the dog waste from their own gardens.
Responsible dog owners will know that the best way to deal with dog faeces on their own property is to dig a hole, place the faeces in the hole and use a specialist chemical to break them down and disperse them. Another way is to pick them up and put them down the loo.
Please be responsible. We can only afford to empty the bins once per week, so they must only be used for dog waste from pavements or verges.
