STREET wardens are appealing to residents not to put cuddly

toys, bedding, cushions, covers and towels in clothing recycling banks.

A Forest of Dean Council spokeswoman said: “Unfortunately, by putting these items in the clothing banks they are ending up in landfill rather than being recycled.

“Many of these items could go to charity shops where they can be reused and loved again. Alternatively, some dog and cat charities often need towels and blankets and may be looking for donations.”

The items to avoid depositing also include quilts and sleeping bags and settee and chair covers.

For more information on the items you can recycle and where you can take them, visit the recycling bank page in the bins and recycling section of the council’s website at www.fdean.gov.uk
