LOCAL animal charity Dean Farm Trust is inviting visitors along to meet rescued residents at a "fang-tastic" Hallowe’en fun day next weekend.

The charity is welcoming members of the public along to its animal sanctuary in Shirenewton next Sunday (October 31) to enjoy a series of spooky activities and tasty treats at the sanctuary shop.

Residents like Pipkin the cow, Harriet the turkey and Agnes the rescued hen will be joining in the festivities with guests able to pay them a visit and feed them tasty pumpkin treats from ’Spooky Sam’s Ghoulish Greengrocer’.

Visitors are encouraged to dress up and take part in the sanctuary’s costume competition and "trick or treat" around the site, while snacks like "creepy cakes" and "chilling cookies" will be served alongside hot drinks on site.

The sanctuary shop will also be open for browsers on the day.

Sanctuary founder Mary Frankland said: "Our little sanctuary family can’t wait to meet everyone this Hallowe’en.

"We’re planning some spooky activities for the whole family to enjoy, so please join us for some frightful fun and learn more about our residents and their sanctuary home.

"Visit our ’ghoulish greengrocer’ and sanctuary shop and share some treats with our beautiful residents."

Dean Farm Trust is home to 197 rescued animals and is run by a small team of staff and volunteers who are "dedicated to the welfare, comfort and safety" of the residents.

The trust asks that visitors do not wear Hallowe’en masks when out with the residents as some are very nervous and may be frightened.

The sanctuary will be open to visitors from 12 noon until 4pm.

Entry costs £5 per person and children aged under three can visit for free.

Tickets are limited and you must book them in advance.
