Driving and walking around the Forest, I notice the increasing number of factories and domestic residences showing their patriotism by flying the Union Jack.

Regretfully, it appears that many "flag wavers" seem to be apparently unaware that they are flying their flags upside down (traditionally a sign of distress).

There is most definitely a right and a wrong way to display the Union Jack and there are several web sites that carry examples (thick white stripe upwards on the hoist side).

So, if you want to publicly display your allegiance to United Kingdom then please take the trouble to learn the correct way to fly our national flag.
