JENNIFER Hurcomb literally leaves the boys in her wake...she is the fastest girl motor cycle racer in Britain.
Jennifer, 15, lives at Milkwall, near Coleford, and her speciality is drag racing, a sport which attracts crowds of thousands to see the fastest racers in the country over a measured course of an eighth of a mile.
The Lakers School pupil is taking the male dominated sport by storm and she is presently leading the national junior drag racing series.
"There are two more rounds to go and if she achieves runs to match those she has returned so far then she could be the national champion," says father, Dai Hurcomb.
"To begin with it was a bit of a novelty to see a girl on the start line but now she is leading they take her very seriously," said Dai.
Jennifer has been riding motor cycles since the age of three.
Her present bike is a Kawasaki 125 and in her last round races she achieved a recorded top speed of 71mph from a standing start to an eighth of a mile.
"She has achieved higher speeds in practice and leading companies are taking an interest in her achievements. It is quite a surprise for a lot of people to see what she can do."
Jennifer has support from Mr and Mrs Tony Phelps of T and T Motor Homes, Chepstow.
"It's a very hard sport. From my own experience the start line is a lonely place to be and races are down to split second timing. Results are decided by hundredths of seconds," said Dai.
