YOUR report last week re Asda and Sainsbury at Lydney did not report the fact that I asked for deferral on both applications to sort out why Gloucestershire County Highways overlooked the lack of foot/cycle paths connecting the two new developments with Lower Church Road which denies safe access to the rail station, industrial areas and the Dean Academy.

Every morning I see a worker walking the A48 by-pass from Oakdale. He has no other option, plenty of land but no footpath provision.

Why does an elementary sustainable infrastructure like this get overlooked with the millions of pounds that are promised to be invested in these developments?
