TWO teen schoolmates went the extra mile when they cycled 46 miles in memory of one of the girls’ dads, who sadly passed away from cancer in February at the age of 47.
Holly Brown rode the Wild Boar Challenge in the Forest of Dean in May in tribute to her dad Scott with Five Acres School classmate Amy Cooke.
And the intrepid 14-year-olds raised a fantastic £1,800 in aid of Great Oaks Hospice in Coleford and Hope Support Services, a charity based in Ross-on-Wye for teenagers whose parents are suffering with terminal illness, who have both supported Holly and her family.
The girls thanked everyone who sponsored them and the cash was split equally between the two charities, giving them £900 each.
A Greak Oaks spokeswoman said the money would be able to provide someone at the late stage of cancer to stay in their own home at night for a week with the help of someone from the charity.
