AN appeal is underway to raise funds to give a Coleford woman a fitting final farewell following her death.

Family friend Emma Tanner has set up a gofundme page in a bid to raise a target of £4,000 to help the family of Alana Feakins, who died at Wotton Lawn hospital in Gloucester on October 10.

The 30-year-old had battled with mental health problems for many years.

Emma said: “Alana’s sister contacted me on social media saying she wanted to contribute to the funeral in some way and help her parents.

“I suggested a gofundme page and set the target of £4,000 – so far we have raised £560. I’d like to thank those who have donated so far and thank those in advance who will read this story and like to help.”

Emma added: “I knew of Alana and she was a lovely lady. I’m hoping as we are running the appeal until October 31 and most people will have been paid then that we will receive more donations.

“Since her death so many people have got in touch to say they know of somebody who has mental health issues. It’s a huge issue that needs plenty of awareness raised.”

Alana’s funeral was held yesterday (Tuesday) but her father, Alan, said payments for the funeral can be made up to two weeks after.

He said: “I can’t thank everybody for their kind donations enough and thanks to Emma for setting up the page.”
