TWo young bakers have raised more than £350 for rescue charity SARA.
Eleanor and Henry Kibble and mum Jo were given a surprise trip by three lifeboat crew to thank them for their tasty efforts.
The two cake sales raised £179 which was then matched by Mrs Kibble’s employers, Gloucester-based Ecclesiastical Insurance to make a total of £358.
Eleven-year-old Henry and his nine-year-old sister got the idea to do some baking during lockdown.
They got busy in the kitchen making Welshcakes, flapjacks, cupcakes, marble cake, rocky road and chocolate Rice Krispie cakes.
A friend also provided some extra cakes for the sales on the drive of their home in Beachley Road, Tutshill.
The sweet treats proved so popular that they had to limit the amount people could buy.
For last Friday’s (August 20) sale, they learnt from the first sale and increased the quantity of cakes available.
They made around 100 Welshcakes and doubled or tripled the number of other cakes that eventually sold like...hot cakes!
